EDD BENNETT

GREEN MOUNTAIN - Edd Bennett, 72, of Pigeon Roost Road, died 
Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002 at Spruce Pine Community Hospital. He 
was the son of the late Roscoe and Mae Byrd Bennett. He was 
also preceded in death by a daughter, Mandie Bennett. A self-
employed farmer, he was a member of Pigeon Roost Upper Freewill 
Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jennie Rhea Howell Bennett of the 
home; sons, Leonard Bennett and Ricky Dale Bennett, both of 
Green Mountain; daughters, Rita Peterson and Joan Peterson, 
both of Green Mountain; a sister, Ethel Barnett of Burnsville; 
10 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Monday in the chapel of 
Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Rev. Marvin Silvers 
officiated. Burial was at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Bennett Cemetery. 
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral 
home.
