J.T. BLALOCK

MICAVILLE - J.T. Blalock, 79, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003 
in Asheville VAMC. He was the son of the late Ben and Pearl 
Harris Blalock. He was also preceded in death by a brother, 
Joe Blalock, and a sister, Alma McCurry. He was a U.S Army 
veteran of WWII, and received two Bronze Stars and the Purple 
Heart. A member of Micaville Presbyterian Church, he was 
retired from Glen Raven Mills.
#Survivors include his wife, Beulah Smith Blalock of the home; 
two sons, Darrell Joe Blalock and Gerald Blalock, both of 
Micaville; a daughter, Sheila Grindstaff of Spruce Pine; two 
sisters, Kathleen Young and Ruby Smith, both of Burnsville; a 
brother, Bill Blalock of Orlando, FL; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Friday at Micaville 
Presbyterian Church. Dr. Robert Garrison officiated. Graveside 
services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Carroway Cemetery, 
with military rites by Sgt. E.L. Randolph, Chapter 57 DAV. The 
family received friends from 6-8 p.m. at the church. Memorial 
donations may be made to Micaville Presbyterian Church Building 
Fund, c/o Sarah Boone, P.O. Box 23, Micaville, NC 28755, or 
Hospice of Yancey County, 856 Georges Fork Road, Burnsville, NC 
28714. Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home was in charge of 
arrangements.
