CARL BUTNER

REIDSVILLE – Carl Butner, 73, died Sunday, July 15, 2001 in Moses Cone
Memorial Hospital. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Earl
and Coyie Murphy Butner. He was also preceded in death by four brothers,
Billy, Lee, Cecil and Earl Butner Jr. Retired from Seager Waterproofing in
Greensboro, he was an Army veteran and served during WWII. Survivors include
his wife, Margaret Garner Butner of the home; three daughters, Donna Oliver of
Marion, Carolyn Robinson of Bostic and Patricia Moreno of Reidsville; one son,
Dennis Butner of Marion; a sister, Lillie Letterman; brothers, Ed, Ralph,
Homer and Johnny Butner; eight granddaughters; seven great grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at
Wilkerson Funeral Home. Burial followed in Evergreen Memory Gardens. The
family received friends Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
