YANCEY COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Joseph F. Freeman, 13 Oct 2002 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- JOSEPH F. FREEMAN BURNSVILLE - Joseph F. Freeman, 73, of the Double Island community, died Sunday, October 13, 2002 at his home. He was the son of the late George Vergus and Ora Duncan Freeman, and husband of the late Margaret Cassida Freeman. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Milard Freeman; sisters, Kate Greer and Estelle Rose; and a niece, Ginger Wineman. A member and trustee of Celo United Methodist Church, he was retired from Glen Raven Mills and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his daughters, Anita Gayle McKinney of Green Mountain, Cynthia McIntosh and Pam King of Burnsville, and Susan Price of Asheville; sisters, Ola Mae Freeman of Spruce Pine, Verdie Pendley of Marion and Nelle Garrett of Middletown, OH; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Celo United Methodist Church. Revs. Rhett Williams-Brown and Don Sneller officiated. Burial was in Academy Cemetery. The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Yancey County, P.O.
