ROSELLA ADKINS HUGHES 
GREEN MOUNTAIN - Rosella Adkins Hughes, 71, of Hughes Hollow Road, died 
Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006 at Johnson City Medical Centre. A native of Yancey 
County, she was the daughter of the late Deckard and Nettie Whitson Adkins. She 
was also preceded in death by brothers, Stewart and Dee Adkins. She was a 
former inspector in Quality Control at Taylor Togs.

Survivors include her husband, Walter Hughes of the home; a son, Kevin Hughes 
of Green Mountain; sisters, Lila Purvis of Orangeburg, SC, Juanita Murphy of 
Green Mountain, Dale Miller of Burnsville, and Phyllis Edwards of Nebo; 
brothers, Ralph Adkins of Nebo, and Kenneth Adkins of Erwin, TN; and one 
granddaughter. 

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakersville. Rev. Blaine Whitson officiated. Burial was at 2 
p.m. Sunday in Huntdale Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 
the service hour Saturday at the funeral home.
