YANCEY COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Elva Lee Harrell, 1 Apr 2003 ----¤¤¤¤---- Elva L. Harrell Mrs. Elva Lee Harrell, 89, Indian Drive, Johnson City, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003 in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton. Mrs. Harrell was a Yancey County, North Carolina native, having lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a daughter of the late Thad Riddle and Bessie Laughren Riddle Winters. Mrs. Harrell was the owner of the former Lee Harrell Florist, Elizabethton. She was of the Holiness faith. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Austin Harrell in 1985; a son, Dayton Eugene Harrell; an infant daughter, Georgia Harrell; one brother, and three sisters. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Billy Jack and Linda Harrell, Johnson City; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jean and Kenny Arrwood, Bluff City; three sisters, Jean McQueen, Birdie Winters, and Pauline Bailey, all of Elizabethton; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Unicoi Funeral Home, 4428 Unicoi Drive, Unicoi, is in charge of the funeral arrangements. HARRELL -- Funeral services for Mrs. Elva Lee Harrell, 89, Indian Drive, Johnson City, who died Tuesday, April 1, 2003 will be held at 8 p.m. hursday, April 3, 2003 from the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend L.C. Tester will officiate. Music will be provided by Bill and Barbara Trent, Richard and Patsy Wagner, and Inez Chandler. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2003 in Roselawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City. Kenny Arrwood, Kyle Cantwell, Greg Wagner, David McQueen, Jimmy Tester, and Mike Babb will serve as active pallbearers. Leroy Brooks, Kenny Arrwood, Sr. and Kay Brewer will serve as honorary pallbearers. All pallbearers are requested to assemble at the funeral home by 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Family, minister, pallbearers and friends may gather at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the residence of the son, Billy Jack Harrell, 108 Indian Drive, Milligan Community, Johnson City.
