YANCEY COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Lucy Peterson Hendrix, 8 Mar 2003 ----¤¤¤¤---- Lucy P. Hendrix Mrs. Lucy Peterson Hendrix, 83, Grandview Road, Johnson City, died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at her residence following a brief illness. Mrs. Hendrix was a native of Yancey County, N.C., and a daughter of the late John "Biss" and Amy Wilhite Peterson. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Herb" Hendrix in 1995; and by two brothers, Luther Peterson and Leslie Peterson. Mrs. Hendrix was a former employee of Dosser's and King's Department Stores. She was a member of Downtown Christian Church. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sylvia Clearman, Johnson City, Nancy Carol and Steve H. Lowe, Johnson City, Rita and Gerry Pickens, Nashville, Tenn.; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry W. and Elaine K. Hendrix, Johnson City; two sisters, Barbara Jane Moseley, Debary, Fla., and Geneva Ayers, Jonesborough; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. www. hathawaypercy.com HENDRIX -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Peterson Hendrix, 83, Grandview Road, Johnson City, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2003, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, with Drs. Eddie Fine and Jess Johnson, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Brent Billheimer. The committal service and entombment will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be the following grandsons: Jason Andrew Lowe, the Rev. Scott Greene, Michael Christopher Pickens, James Dallas Holtsclaw, David William Pickens, William Kelly Hendrix, Michael Steve Edwards and Duane Connor. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Weathers, R.C. Bennett, Earl Gouge, Jimmy Randolph, Don Newell, Al Meade and Palmer Jones. The family will receive friends in the Sunset Chapel from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. Friends may call at the residence at any time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Carter County Volunteer Fire Department, 1420 Milligan Highway, Johnson City, TN 37601.
