ETHEL HOLLIFIELD

SPRUCE PINE – Ethel Hollifield, 97, died Friday, September 15, 2001 in a 
Spruce Pine nursing facility. A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter 
of the late Bill and Lilly Robinson Edge. She was also preceded in death by a 
son, Sherrill Ballew.
Survivors include a daughter, Lillian Hollifield of Spruce Pine; four 
grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel 
of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Revs. R.M. Cassity and Richard Hollifield 
officiated. Burial was at 10 a.m. Monday in Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. The 
family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
