Dimey L. Hughes

Dimey Ledford Hughes, 80, Greystone Nursing Home, Blountville, formerly 
of Roan Mountain, died Wednesday, February 12, 2003, at Johnson City 
Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Hughes was a native of Burnsville, N.C., and the daughter of the 
late Amos and Naomi Edwards Ledford. She was also preceded in death by 
her husband, Orville B. Hughes, a son, Wayne Hughes, a daughter, Ruby 
Holder, and an infant daughter, Elizabeth Hughes.
Mrs. Hughes was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Milburn Hughes, Blountville, and three daughters, 
Bonnie Louise Heaton, Johnson City, Pearl Caples, Westminster, Md., and 
Lucy Helmick, Roan Mountain. Twenty-eight grandchildren, numerous great-
grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

HUGHES -- Funeral services for Dimey Ledford Hughes, 80, Greystone Nursing 
Home, Blountville, formerly of Roan Mountain, who died Wednesday, February 
12, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, February 14, in the Rhododendron 
Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with the Rev. Randy English 
officiating. Music will be under the direction of Gayle English, soloist. 
Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, 
February 15, at Roberts Cemetery, Cove Creek Community, Roan Mountain. 
Active pallbearers will be Chad Heaton, Shannon Hoilman, Michael Isaacs, 
Greg White, Derrick Guinn and Norman Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be 
Dewey Garland, Clarence Barnett, Buck Freeman and Farrell Hughes. Those who 
plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 
1:55 p.m. Saturday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday 
in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain. Friends 
may also call at the residence of a daughter, Lucy Helmick, 106 Hampton 
Creek Road, Roan Mountain, at any time. Words of sympathy may be sent to
