RUBY EDWARDS LAWS 
 
GREEN MOUNTAIN - Ruby Edwards Laws, 93, died Monday, May 1, 2006 in Spruce Pine 
community Hospital. A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late 
John and Mary McCurry Edwards, and wife of the late Lester Laws. She was also 
preceded in death by a son, Lee Roy Laws; seven brothers and sisters; and five 
grandchildren.

Survivors include five sons, Mack, Homer, Harold and Junior Laws, all of Green 
Mountain, and Reece Laws of Marion; seven daughters, Grace Sturgill, Jane 
Deyton and Kay McMahan, all of Green Mountain, Bonnie McCurry and Lena 
Robinson, both of Burnsville, Mary Evelyn Medford of Spruce Pine, and Burma 
Robinson of Newland; one sister, Julie Phillips of Erwin, TN; 28 grandchildren; 
47 great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Holcombe 
Brothers Funeral Home. Revs. Philip Garland and Bud Edwards officiated. 
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bailey Hill Cemetery. The 
family received friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour Wednesday at the 
funeral home.
