EDITH GRINDSTAFF OLLIS 

BAKERSVILLE - Edith Grindstaff Ollis, 95, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005. A native 
of Yancey County, she was the daughter of Will and Martha Roberts Grindstaff. 
She was also preceded in death by four sons, J.G., R.C., Arthur and Harold 
Norman.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Lee Willis of Weaverville; one son, Lewis 
Norman of Newton; two brothers, Lawrence Grindstaff of Green Mountain, and Ed 
Grindstaff of Erwin, TN; one sister, Christine Gortney of Bakersville; 25 
grandchildren; and several great and great great grandchildren. 
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. Clifford Willis and Gerald Grindstaff 
officiated. Burial followed in Mine Creek Cemetery. The family received friends 
from 1 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
