YANCEY COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Robert Lee Pitman, 6 Jun 2005

ASHEVILLE - Robert Lee Pitman, 72, of Summit Street, Burnsville, died June 6,
2005.

A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Adam and Kate
Dellinger Pitman. Mr. Pitman was a member of the Burnsville Volunteer Fire
Department and the Burnsville Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans. He
was retired from the Contel telephone company. He was preceded in death by his
wife, Iva Lee Rathbone and brothers, Phillip, Jack and Rev. Joe Pitman. 

Survivors include daughters Anita McGee, Susan Wilson, and Regina Wilson, all
of Burnsville; a son, Robert Lee Pitman, Jr. of Bakersville; a sister Rachael
Watson, of Spruce Pine; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday June 9, at 2 p.m. in the Grindstaff
memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The Rev. Davey Shelton officiated.
Burial was in the Pine Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received
friends at Webb Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening.
