FLOSSIE BURLESON SPARKS 

MARION - Flossie Burleson Sparks, 86, died Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Rose Hill 
Retirement Center. Born in Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late 
Weldon and Biddie Young Autrey, and wife of the late William Burleson and the 
late Joe Sparks. She worked as an inspector for Baxter Healthcare, and was a 
member of Pine Branch Baptist Church in Spruce Pine.

Survivors include a daughter, Billie Rene Thompson of Nebo; one granddaughter; 
and one great granddaughter. 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel at Westmoreland 
Funeral Home. The Revs. Steve Williams and Chuck Tripp officiated. Entombment 
was in Oak Grove Mausoleum. The family received friends from 2 p.m. until the 
service hour Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to 
Hospice of McDowell County, 575 Airport Road, Marion, NC 28752.
