Wyatt Earnest E. Wyatt, 89, formerly of 1013 Grindstaff Avenue, Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. He had been a patient at the VA Nursing Home for some time. Mr. Wyatt was the son of the late Mack and Malissa Bailey Wyatt and was a native of Yancey County, N.C. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Greene Wyatt, April 10, 2000, two brothers, Clarence and Milo, and three sisters, Nora, Mae and Lillie of Yancey County, N.C. Mr. Wyatt was an honorably discharged veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy Seabees (Construction Division). He was retired from TVA, where he worked as a crane operator, and was a member of IUOE Local No. 917 of Chattanooga, Tenn. He and his late wife were both members of Doe River Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Earl and Janet Wyatt of Johnson City and Dennis and Sheila Wyatt of Cleveland, Tenn., and a grandson and his wife, Chris and Danielle Wyatt of Conover, N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Wyatt will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, May 11, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Willie Lunceford officiating. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military Honors will be accorded by Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post No. 2166. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Saturday. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, and at other times at the residence of a son, 2806 Stevens Drive, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers. memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, c/o Dr. Christine Adler, James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Hospital, Mountain Home, TN 37694. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of NHCU2 who were involved in his daily care and particularly to Dr. Angela May, Dr. Gary Bush, Karen Gunn PA, Dr. Clarence Spannuth, Dr. Ann Jackson, Mr. Miguel Ossorio, Lori Greene MSW, Angelina Walsh MSW, Curt Mathson and the rest of the wonderful staff who enhanced his quality of life with crafts, therapies, entertainment provided, smiling visits and spiritual enhancement.
