ORIN JOHN WILSON
NEWDALE – Orin John Wilson, 68, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at Spruce Pine 
Community Hospital. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late 
Charlie “Bud” and Pearl Presnell Wilson. He was also preceded in death by 
his first wife, Gertrude Hopson Wilson, and an infant son, David Kent 
Wilson. He was owner/operator of O.J. Wilson Stone Company.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Tipton Wilson of the home; three daughters, 
Deborah Young of Micaville, Donna “Cricket” Winters of Newdale, and Trinity 
Wilson of Marion; two sons, Douglas Wilson of Morganton, and Orin John Wilson 
II of the home; three sisters, True Elliott, Faye Boone and Winnie McKinney, 
all of Newdale; two brothers, Robert Charles Wilson and Frank Leonard Wilson, 
both of Newdale; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several 
nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 8 p.m.Thursday in the chapel of Holcombe 
Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. David Gillespie officiated. The family received 
friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
