YANCEY COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Reba Mae Woody Wilson, 13 Oct 2002 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- REBA MAE WOODY WILSON STATESVILLE - Reba Mae Woody Wilson, 83, formerly of Yancey County, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002 at Highland Farms Retirement Center in Black Mountain. She was the daughter of the late John P. and Julia Randolph Woody, and wife of the late Wade Hampton Wilson. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Jay Lawrence Woody and one niece, Glenda Mae Whitson. A charter member of Forest Park Presbyterian Church, she was employed as an elementary teacher with the North Carolina School System, including Mitchell and Yancey Counties. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, as well as a member of the Statesville Women's Club, Business and Professional Women's Club, and the Delta Conclave of Kappa Kappa Iota Sorority. Survivors include a sister, June Elizabeth Whitson of Bakersville; five nephews; two nieces; eight great nieces; six great nephews; and one great great niece. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Henline- Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. Chris Shelton and Lee Ayers officiated. Burial followed in Green/Young Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.
