BALLEW of Celo, Yancey County, State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory do declare this to be my last will and testament. 1st I give and bequeath to my son JONATHAN J. BALLEW and his heirs all of my household and kitchen furniture except one bed. I also give and bequeath to him the said JONATHAN J. BALLEW one mule known as ------, one milk cow and one yearling calf, sixteen head of hogs also my bees consisting of about 10 hives, one crosscut saw. Also one fro on condition that he loan it to his brothers when they need it. Also one rifle gun provided he keeps it, if not to his brothers. 2nd All my mechanical tools and blacksmith tools I give and bequeath to my sons, STEPHEN L. BALLEW, WHITSON BALLEW and JONATHAN J. BALLEW. 3rd To my grand daughter LOUCINDA BALLEW I give one bed and bedstead which I excepted in my bequest to my son Jonathan. 4th I give my large family Bible to my son JONATHAN J. BALLEW. 5th I give to each one of my children living at my death one volume to be drawn by lots as a keepsake from among my books, the remainder to go to my son JONATHAN J. BALLEW. 6th I state expressely that each one of my children except my two daughters ELLEN BALLEW and DELILAH CARAWAY has had his or her proportional part of my real estate by deed and I hold in my possession two notes each for $50.00 which I give to my two daughters ELLEN BALLEW and DELILAH CARAWAY equally at my death unless at my death my son Jonathan has paid to my daughters ELLEN BALLEW and DELILAH CARAWAY the sum of $50.00 and holds their receipts therefor. 7th I appoint my sons STEPHEN L. BALLEW and WHITSON BALLEW my Executors of this will and devise nor shall they be required to give any surety for the performance of their duties. In witness whereof I ROBERT A.
