This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Sandra Allen Fender fender@hci.net ==================================================================== Yancey County Record of Wills Volume #1, page 22 Microfilm # C.107.80001 Last Will and Testament of MARY COX The following is a copy of the Last Will and Testament produced in open court by ISAAC COX, The Executor thereof, which was admitted to probate on the Testimony of JEREMIAH SPARKS one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and said Executor Duly Sworn in at October Term of said Court, 1836 The Will is in the following words and figures, to wit: I, MARY COX, In the Name of God Amen, Being of sound mind and memory at present do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in the words following, towit: Three feather beds and ----- furniture and all the cattle and sheep and hogs and clock and one chest, one table, one loom, one gun, shot pouch and powder horn. one large oven, three pots and a big cittle, all the table furniture, one frying pan & two smoothing Irons, one skilet and one small oven and one mare I wish to be sold with all other property not herein after enumerated and the proceeds thereof to be divided equally between my following children (viz) ISAAC, OLIVE, MARY, JANE, DAVID, HARMON and if HANNAH shall apply within the space of five years after my decease to have an equal part with the rest otherwise not to have anything. And all my clothing, including the bed courtains to be divided between OLIVE, MARY and JANE and MARY to have my saddle and I hereby Authorize and Appoint ISAAC COX my Lawful and Legal Executor to manage the above business, Settle all my just debts and collect all my just claims and to make the above distributions of the said Estate Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this the 8th day of August 1835.
