This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Sandra Allen Fender fender@hci.net ==================================================================== Yancey County Record of Wills Volume # 1, page 348 Microfilm # C.107.80001 Last Will and Testament of WILLIAM GRAGG, Senior A Last will and Testament in the Name of God Amen I WILLIAM GRAGG Senior of Yancey County & State of North Carolina, being in perfect mind and memory altho weak in Boddy and calling to mind the uncertainty of this life and knowing that my worldly Effects might go to them who are undeserving it, I do hereby make this my last will and Testament in manner and form following (towit) In the first place, I give and bequeath my soul to God who gave it hoping Through the merrits of Jesus Christ my redeemer that He will finally Raise both soul & body unto the ---- Glory. 2 Item At my death I give and bequeath unto my wife one bed & furniture and one bay mare & one pided cow and calf. This to be her own right & proper. 3rd Item I give & bequeath to my daughter INDIANNA one bed & furniture. 4 Item My tract of land containing 75 acres where I formerly lived on I leave to be sold & the money equally divided between my two children INDIANNA & TAYLOR GRAGG. 5th Item I leave all my hogs to my wife to help raise my children on also I leave all my household and kitchen furniture to the use of my family. 6th Item I leave all the ballance of my property to be sold and the money Equally divided between my two children also leave one dollar apeace for Each of my older set of sons and daughters. Some debts due me I leave to be collected and the money put to the use of my children. I want my debts paid off and all the Ballance of the money put out on Interest until the children gets old enough to Receive it. Lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint JOHN GRAGG of the aforesaid County executor of this my Last Will and Testament Revoking all other wills or Wills made by me in anywise in witness whereof I have in the presence of ALFRED PRICHARD and MAJOR GRAGG hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this the Sixteenth day of October One thousand Eight Hundred & forty seven WILLIAM GRAGG, with his mark (x) Signed Sealed and acknowledged this to be his last will & testament in the presence of us ALFRED PRICHARD, with his mark (x) MAJOR GRAGG
