Last Will and Testament of FREDERICK LEDFORD

In the Name of God Amen.

I FREDERICK LEDFORD of the County of Yancey and State of North Carolina, 
farmer, being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be 
given unto God, calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it 
is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my Last Will and
Testament, that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my 
Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to 
the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my 
Executor. Nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the 
same again by the mighty Power of God and as touch such worldly Estate, first 
I say that my wife PRUDY and my son ELIAS to hold all my property, that is to 
say the household furniture, that is to say the bedding and furniture 
belonging to and kitchen furniture and the hogs & sheep and cattle and the 
mare & raise the children enduring her lifetime or widowhood. ELIAS to come 
home and help raise the children and take such part of the property as they 
can spare along and pay all my debts and when the children become of age and 
leaves home, that is to say these that lives at home that the boys is to have 
the same as the one that has married that if they have the property, girls to 
have a bed and furniture and I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke and 
disannual all and every other former Testament, Wills, Legacies and Executors 
by me in any wise before named willed and bequeathed, Ratifying and confirming 
this and no other to be my last will and Testament in Witness whereof I have 
hereunto set my hand and seal this the fifteenth day of December one thousand 
Eight hundred and Thirty Five.
