Peterson, Administrator of N.B. Ray, Deceased } Petition To Sell Land & Make Assets -vs- Cordelia Peterson, Will Ray, Gertie Renfro, Granville Renfro, Thomas B. Burton, Willard Ray, Nathan Ray and Lillie Ray, Heirs at Law of N.B. Ray Deceased "To J. Bis Ray, Clerk Superior Court of Yancey County: The petition of L.P. Peterson, administrator of N.B. Ray, deceased, respectfully showeth, that he was appointed administrator of said intestate by the Clerk of Superior Court of said County on the 6th day of November 1899, and at once entered upon the administration of said estate. Your petitioner further showeth: 1. That from the best information and knowledge which he has been able to obtain, the outstanding debts of said estate amount to about $150.00. 2. That the value of the personal estate of said intestate is about $75.00 3. That at the time of his death the said intestate was seized in fee simple of the following lands - about 45 acres in and near the town of Burnsville adjoining Higgins & Evans, S.M. [Samuel Moffatt] Bennett, L.J. Carter, William Wilson, and others; also a tract of land situated in Pensacola Township near J.B. Penland, known as the N.B. Ray Farm. That the value of the first tract is about $800.00. The value of the second tract about $400 4. That the deceased left him surviving the following named heirs at law, to- wit: Cordelia Peterson and the hairs at law of Columbus Ray (deceased), who was an heir at law of said N.B. Ray, to-wit: Will Ray, Gertie Renfro and husband Granville Renfro, Georgia Burton and husband Thomas Burton, Willard Ray, Nathan Ray and Lillie Ray. Said Granville Renfro and Thomas Burton being husbands of two of the said heirs at law of Columbus Ray. That all of said heirs reside in Yancey County. That of the last named __??__ and Georgia Burton are minors and without funds or custodiary guardian. 5. That a sale of a portion of said lands is necessary to pay the debts of the deceased and charges of administration, their not being enough personal property to pay said debts. All of the said personal property has been sold and amounts to only about $75.00 "Therefore, your petitioner prays 1. That a decree be made by this Court for the sale of said lands on such terms as the Court may direct. 2. That a commissioner may be appointed to sell said lands under the direction of the Court. That the farm tract on Cane River be sold first as it is sufficient to pay all charges and all debts of intestate. /s/ E.F. Watson, Attorney for Administrator "L.P.
