Last Will and Testament of Jonathan Tipton

State of North Carolina, Yancey County
April the 6th, 1850

Whereas I JONATHAN TIPTON, senior, This day with bequeath and desire to make 
his last will and Testimony of all his person property and lands being in his 
wright mind doth will to his wife SARY TIPTON the stock of cattel and stock of 
hoges and stock of sheep and working tools, household, citchen and furniture 
and one horse and one still and vessels, one set of black smith Tools. WILLIAM 
TIPTON, an orphan bound to me, seventy five Dollars in a horse, saddle and 
bridle to be paid at his freedom.
JAMES TIPTON to be paid five shillings sterling of the estate.
CHARLES TIPTON, five shillings sterling of the estate.
I will to CUZY TIPTON and JACOB TIPTON ayres(heirs) of mine five shillings 
sterling to each of them.
JONATHAN TIPTON, in shillings sterling of the estate.
POLLY TIPTON five shillings sterling of the estate.
PATSY (Tipton marked out) HENSLEY five shillings sterling of the estate.
DAVID TIPTON five shillings sterling of the estate.
NANCY TIPTON five shillings sterling of the estate. all ayers of mine.
This Estate vested in the hands of SARRY TIPTON my wife administrator and 
WILSON WEBB, my will is also for the above administrators to give VALENTINE 
TIPTON one Cow. REBECCA BAILEY, SUSANNAH TIPTON one cow. VINA TIPTON one cow. 
ELIZABETH TIPTON one cow.
This Estate is to be good in law as long as my wifes widowhood, if she marries 
the Estate is to be divided according to law amongst my children of my last 
wife. My request is also farther that VALANTINE TIPTON should have the land I 
gave heretofore to him. When the youngest child comes to age, this is J. W. 
TIPTON. 
I also give fifty acres of land to REBECCA BAILEY include the bildings and 
cleared land where she now lives. My request is also that my land and 
premasays should be equally divided when the youngest child becomes to age 
with BENJAMINE L. TIPTON, ALFORD J. TIPTON, and REUBIN M. TIPTON, ROBERT B. 
TIPTON, JOSEPH W. TIPTON.
Being in my wright mind I JONATHAN TIPTON do make this my last will and 
Testament. I hereunto set my hand and seal this day and date above written.
