Cornelia Olava Isaacs (Isaachsdatter) was born abt 1860 at Wisconsin to Rollef 
(Robert) Isaaksen (Isaacs) and Susan (unknown maiden surname). Cornelia had a 
twin brother, Cornelius, and an older sister, Rena Mary (b 1858 Wisconsin). 



Her father moved to Mitchell County, Iowa after her mother died and was married 
twice more, so Cornelia also had 9 step-siblings: 

Steena Susannah (b 1868 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa) and 

Edward (b May 1868 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa) 

((their mother was Randvi Maria Aadsdatter Himle));  



Rakel (b 1875 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa); 

Elisabeth (b March 26, 1876 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, d December 24, 1916 
Mitchell, Iowa); 

Nils Adolf (b February 17, 1878 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, d October 26, 1946 
Butler, Kansas); 

Hannah Christine (b February 5, 1882 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, d November 13, 1909 
same); 

Ralph Jessie (b April 28, 1889 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, d November 8, 1955 
Wichita, Kansas); 

Clarence Martin (b January 25, 1891 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, d June 29, 1969 Rice 
Lake, Barron, Wisconsin) and 

Elmer Cornelius (b January 27, 1895 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, d November 6, 1976 
Osage, Mitchell, Iowa. 

((their mother was Johanna Palm))



Found in the 1870 census living on a farm at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa: Robt Isaacs 
40, Maria Isaacs 33, Mary Isaacs 12, Cornelia Isaacs 10, Cornelius Isaacs 10, 
Mary Nelson 7, Stena Nelson 4, Edward Nelson 3, James Benson 22. 



Found in the 1880 census at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa: Cornelia Isaacs 18, working 
as a house servant.



Found in the 1885 census at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa: Robert Isaacs 55, Johanna 
Isaacs 33, Cornelia Isaacs 23, Oley Isaacs 23, Susan Isaacs 18, Edward Isaacs 
15, Rachel Isaacs 10, Lessy Isaacs 8, Nels Isaacs 7, Hannah Isaacs 3.



Cornelia married Thorvald Torgerson on February 5, 1886 at the Rock Creek 
Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.  



The couple moved to North Dakota to homestead land where they had 5 children: 
(4 living in 1910 census): 

Ruda S, age 23, female, born in ND; 

Clarence, 20, male, born in ND; 

Osvald A 17, male, born in ND; 

Ronald B, 10, male, born in ND.



Found in the 1910 census living on a farm at Albert, Benson, North Dakota: 
Thowald Torgerson 49, Comelia I Torgerson 48, Ruda S Torgerson 23, Clarence G 
Torgerson 20, Osvald A Torgerson 17, Ronald B Torgerson 10.



Found in the 1920 - 1930 censuses at Leeds, Benson, North Dakota: 

1920: Thorvald Torgerson 58, Cornelie Torgerson 58, Roland Torgerson 20, Carl 
Myhre 21, Howard Page 25, Herman Ylvisaker 32, Agnes Hanson 24. 



1930: Thorvald H Torgerson 69, Cornelia O Torgerson 68, John B Kinneberg 25, 
Wallace R Olson 30, Peter Hauser 72, Russel W Danby 44, Oluf Ingebretson 58.  *



Cornelia Olava Isaacs Torgerson died January 8, 1954 near Leeds, Benson, North 
Dakota and is probably buried in Benson, North Dakota although I could not 
locate where. 

Additional Comments:
Note: Censuses transcribed as found without fixing spelling errors. 

Isaac, Isaacs and Isaachsen all found as her father's surname. 

Found reference to her birth years as 1860 and 1862.
