FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR MRS T.J. KING Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon of last week at the I.O.O.F. hall in Hannah for Mrs. T.J. King, pioneer resident of Hannah, who died Sunday, April 24, 1955 at a Crystal City, Man. hospital. Rev. Robert Boxrud of Sarles officated at the services. Pallbearers were G.B. Tollefson, R.D. McLean, P.W. Moffatt, G.D. Dickson, L.L. Miller and W.A. Nickerson. Interment was made in the Hannah cemetery. Special music during the services included "Have Thine Own Way Lord" and "The Old Rugged Cross" sung by a quartette composed of Mrs. A.E. Prior, Mrs.W. Fairbanks, W.E. Treleaven and E.W. Treleaven, and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" sung by Mrs. Fairbanks. Mrs. King was born Ada Sophia Skene December 10, 1873 at Guelph, Ont., the eighth child of James Harvey Skene and Eliza Vickers Skene. She came with her parents to Dakota Territory when a child. She was married to Thomas J. King May 27, 1893 and they made their home on a farm six miles west of Hannah until 1908 when they moved into Hannah where they have made their home since. She was affiliated with the Presbyterian church and was a charter member of the Rebekah Lodge. Surviving besides Mr. King are two sons, Willis of Hannah and Henry of St. Paul, and two daughters, May, who is Mrs. Morgan of Los Angeles, Calif. and LaMoine who is Mrs. Wilford Ausbrook of Peoria, Ill., 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR T.J. KING OF HANNAH Thomas J. King, 93, pioneer resident of the Hannah community died at his home in Hannah, Dec.7, 1957. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 10th by Rev. Henning Olsen of Sarles in the I.O.O.F. hall in Hannah. Interment was in the Hannah cemetery. Pallbearers were G.D. Dickson, Melvin Halls, Robert D. McLean, Leona L. Miller, Peter W. Moffatt and Gordon B. Tollefson. Mrs. M.W. Fairbanks sang "Near To The Heart of God", and a quartet, Mrs. Fairbanks, Mrs. A.E. Prior, W.E. Treleaven and Elden W. Treleaven, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Have Thine Own Way Lord". Mrs. A.R. Balfour was piano accompianist. Mr. King was born December 1, 1864 in Medford (JEB/sic.Meaford), Ontario, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John King. He came to Dakota Territory when he was 16 years of age, coming to Grafton by train, and then on to Golden Valley west of Park River by wagon. He farmed there until 1887 when he came to what is Cavalier County, and homesteaded six miles west of the present site of Hannah. He owned the farm until about 10 years ago when he sold it. Mr. King was married May 29, 1893 to the former Adah Skene and they lived on the farm until 1908, when they moved to Hannah and Mr. King became engaged in the garage business. His son, Willis, joined him in business in 1923 and continues in the business. Mr. King was a charter member of the I.O.O.F. lodge of Hannah, and a member of the town board at the time of its incorporation. Relatives and friends joined with Mr. and Mrs. King in celebrating their Golden Wedding anniversary May 27, 1943. Mrs. King died April 24, 1955. During his later years, the observance of Mr. King's birthday became an annual event in the Hannah vicinity. Survivors include two sons, Willis of Hannah and Henry of St. Paul, Minn., two daughters Mrs. E.C. Morgan (May) of Los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. W.C. Ausbrook (La Maine) (JEB/sic LaMoine)of Peoria, Ill., a brother Will of Swift Current, Sask., two sisters Mrs. Ruth Jones of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Lettie Johnstone of British Columbia; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Henry King of St. Paul and Mrs. W.C. Ausbrook of Peoria, Ill. came to attend the funeral of their father while his grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wallace of Devils Lake and Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Fuehrer of East Grand Forks, Minn. and his nephew and niece Mr.and Mrs. A.J. Charon were also in attendance. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OBITUARY OF INEZ MAY (KING) MORGAN. LANGDON, N.D.--Inas Morgan, 102, Langdon, died Saturday, July 11, 1998, in Maple Manor Care Center, Langdon. Inas May King was born Dec 2, 1895, the daughter of Thomas and Ada (Skene) King, in Byron Township, Cavalier County, N.D. She lived on a farm near Hannah, N.D. from 1895 to 1905. In 1905, her family moved into Hannah and lived there until 1914. From 1914 to 1930, she lived in Minnesota. She married E. Clair Morgan on July 19, 1930, in Fremont, Neb. They lived in Nebraska until 1942. E. Clair Morgan died in November, 1942. She lived in California in 1942 until 1958 when she moved to North Dakota. She lived in Devils Lake and Hannah. She moved to Maple Manor Care Center March 23, 1982. She was a licensed registered nurse and worked as a private nurse. She is survived by a sister, LaMoine Ausbrook, Cottonwood, Ariz.
