In the demise of Miss Laura Donnel the community is bereft of one of its most useful members and society deprived of one of its brightest social gems. She was an obedient, affectionate daughter, a kind sister, and a most lovable companion. Those who knew her best loved her as a friend and held her in high estimation. She was one of the pioneer young ladies of the Mouse river, and was, we believe, the first to teach a public school in McHenry county. The funeral took place from the parental homestead on Wednesday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. Martin of Minot, assisted by Rev. J. C. Struthers of Scriptown, and was attended by a large concourse of friends from different points on the river.
