The history of this case is already known to our readers. The INDEPENDENT would not think of undertaking to attach blame to any individual, but the fact remains that Miss Johnson was very illy cared for up to the time of her removal to the Great Northern hotel. her surroundings during earlier stages of her illness were of a nature tending to accelerate rather than retard the progress of her disease. Miss Johnson was the mother of a little girl about two years old, of illegal issue. Mr. J. C. McLain, a stockman living in Montana, and a gentleman of kindly and sympathetic nature, adopted the little one into his own family. Miss Johnson has, we understand, two brothers living in this county. During her sickness, and since then, these queer specimens have exhibited an air of utter indifference. Under the circumstances it may be just as well that this unhappy girl is no more. Funeral services were held last Monday.
