This community was startled Sunday morning when the intelligence was brought to town that Benjamin Peters, whose home is about nine miles northwest of Towner, was dead. Saturday evening Mr. Peters called upon one of his neighbors about three miles distant. He left him in the best of health, apparantly, but on his way home was taken with a severe pain in the chest; during the night he suffered a similar attack, and in the early morning another, and from which he never recovered. During this attack a neighbor started to Towner in quest of Dr. Payne, but he had been gone a few minutes when Mr. Peters expired, and when the doctor arrived had been dead several hours. After inquiring into the symptoms of the case the doctor stated that death had resulted from paralysis of the heart. The funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Peters came to McHenry county seven or eight years ago and engaged in farming. Though industrious and of good habits, mismanagement and the many disadvatages that farmers have to contend with, combined to gradually diminish his resources until in his death, his family are left in destitute circumstances. The most sincere sympathy is entertained for the bereaved family, and this should find expression in those kindly ministrations of charity, so much needed by the widow and children in their grief and distress.
