Iver Peterson's infant child, aged about 14 months, died Thursday afternoon. The child had been sick most of the time for the last six months, the ailment arising from a cold caught in the fall through the wretched condition of the building in which the family lived. About two months ago Iver peterson, the shiftless and worthless husband and father, took about $100, all the ready money they possessed, and started for Minnesota, under the pretext of going to his former home in that state and buying a pair of horses, since which time no tidings of him have been received here. When he started from home his wife was scarcely able to do her own work, yet he left her with a sick babe and two other helpless little children to care for, without money and without any female help. A young man named Beck, who he left to look after the stock and do the heavy chores has rendered Mrs. Peterson all the assistance he could, and is entitled to credit for his faithfulness, while the miserable coot of a husband deserves the contempt of every settler on the Mouse. for some days past Mrs. Peterson has been confined to her bed most of the time, and at the time of the child's death was scarcely able to be up. Saturday, may 21, 1887; Vol. 2, No. 12, Pg. 1 Mrs. Iver Peterson's child was buried in the Norwegian Lutheran church ememtery last Saturday afternoon.
