A. Power's herder, Coutts Marjoribanks, while riding on the range about six miles south of town, came upon the remains of a man. A hat and a bottle lay beside the bleaching bones, and these Mr. Marjoribanks secured and sent into town Thursday evening, with a statement of where and how he found them. The hat was at once identified as the one worn by Charley when last seen. The coroner was notified, a jury sworn in, and Friday morning the jury and coroner, accompanied by a number of citizens, left to view the remains and bring them in for burial. Wild animals had badly scattered the bones, but enough of the clothing remained for identification, and the testimony of numerous witnesses made it perfectly clear that the remains were undoubtedly those of the missing Charley Richards.
