Last Monday morning the Angel of Death visited our peaceful little city and called to her eternal reward, Miss Maria Clementine Willits. The deceased had been ailing for nearly a year, and during the past two months she had been in excruciating pain which was borne with the fortitude and patience of one who believes, "Thy Will be done." Tho her illness was painful she passed peacefully away to join that great throng that has gone before. For the past six years Miss Willits had been a resident of Towner, and was held in the highest esteem by every one who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. She was an earnest christian and ever ready to labor in the vineyard of her Master. She was superintendent of the Towner Sunday school, giving faithful and loving service to her duties. The county Sunday School which is now in a flourishing condition, was organized by her untiring effort. It was with much regret that her own pastor Rev. Mr. Acheson was unable to reach home for the funeral, but Rev. Ivey, officiated, and as he had been associated with her in Sunday School work, paid a tribute of heartfelt praise to his friend. Many of the Sunday School children were present as well as a large concourse of citizens. The floral tributes were beautiful, they being a fitting shrine for one whom we all had often admired. Some of the flowers were contributed by the Sunday School and the Willing Workers, who also lose a faithful member. The funeral took place from the Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon and the remains were interred in the Towner cemetery.
