Mr. Willits was over 96 years of age at the time of his death and his mind remained clear until the last. Uncle John, as Mr. Willits was best known to the old timers of this vicinity, was an early settler in McHenry county and several of his children were located here at one time, his son, Hardie Willits, conducting one of the first stores at Bantry. Uncle John was a sturdy, God-fearing man, one of the very best types of those pioneers who came out from Ontario and helped to lay the foundation both in western Canada and in North Dakota.
