John J. Doyle, McIntosh County, North Dakota John Doyle of Wishek has been a resident of McIntosh County for 57 years, and of Wishek 43 years. He came with his father in 1884, and they lived and farmed on a homestead about 9 miles south of Wishek. His father had brought in a large herd of cattle which added to the work on the farm. When the railroad came through in 1898 and the city of Wishek was founded by J. H. Wishek, Mr. Doyle moved there and was one of the first business men in the new town. He first built a grain flat house and later an elevator which he is still operating. In 1909 he organized the Security State Bank and is still carrying on a successful banking business. In 1910 he married. Katharine E. Scanlon who was a pharmicist in the drug store in the employ of Dr. Geo. Grant. They have two sons, John and Walter J. In the years 1909 and 1915 he served as representative in the legislature at Bismarck; He has also served as mayor of the city of Wishek. He donated the land for Doyle State Park at Green Lake. Mr. Doyle must always be considered one of the progressive and influential citizens of Wishek and vicinity.
