Obituary, Bert C. Timm, McIntosh County, North Dakota. Submitted by daughter Donnel Shaw. On April 28, 1999 a great loss occurred in Plano, Texas. Bert C. Timm passed from his earthly life and entered his new life in heaven. He began his life on April 11, 1917 in Bismarck, North Dakota, Burleigh Co. He was born to Anna Carolyn Gruye and Henry Elmer Timm. He had many accomplishments in life. Early in life he was an Eagle Scout, and graduated from Wishek High School as Valedictorian in 1936. He then entered the University of North Dakota to gain his B.A. and was Cum Laudi Phi Beta Kappa in 1939. Deciding that he wanted a warmer climate he migrated to Texas and achieved his Masters from the University of Texas at Austin in 1941. “ He was also composer of College musicals, Editor-in-Chief of National Prize Winning Dakota Student Newspaper: Collegiate Who’s Who. Instructor of Geology at the University of Texas as well. That is how he met his first wife, Mildred Ila Hawkes. 1941-1987 He was with Sunray-Sun-Vortex Exploration; As Field Geologist discovered Trinity Gas Field; As Pioneer offshore geologist rode out Gulf Hurricane; As Chief Geologist led domestic and foreign Exploration; As Division Manager led to discovery of nine producing Gulf Fields; As Economic Planner designed exploration and production organizations for Sunray-Sun merger; As Washington lobbyist for gas industry started successful deregulation; As Chief Operating Officer led domestic exploration. Published science and economic pioneer articles in academic and industry journals. 1987-1995 He was Adjunct professor of Geology of three North Texas Colleges.”(by Bert C. Timm) He was also a founding member of the Rock Masonic Lodge in Oklahoma. He was a member until late in life. But the most important achievement in his live was his role as an active member of his church and family. He was a very good father and husband. The loss of Bert C. Timm will be felt by his family and friends. For he was a Great man, A Good man, A Moral man. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mildred Ila Hawkes and his granddaughter Theresa Ann Valenta. To morn his death are his wife Myrna Glass- Timm. His children by his first wife Barrett Valenta of Dallas, Texas. Dr. John T. Timm of Corpus Christie, Texas, Mary Donnel Shaw of Shreveport, Louisiana, and ,a stepson Mark Glass of Dallas, Texas. He also leaves eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
