                                        Church & Cemetery

Glenn Enns and his sister-in-law, Mrs. Peter Enns, provided the following information to me.
The Mennonite families of this congregation came to this area from southern Minnesota
(near St. James and Butterfield). They were primarily farmers who came to homestead. Their
church building was completed in 1923 west of the Lostwood Townsite about a mile and a half.
Services had been held in homes and later in the Rural West School #3 for a couple years prior
to the church being built. The worship services were conducted in the German language and the
records are written in German. The church disbanded in 1936 due to declining membership. The
last of the Mennonite families left in 1937, most went to Warroad, Minnesota. Mr. Enns was a
mail carrier so was the sole member remaining in the area. The church records were sent to
Warroad, Minnesota. In 1941 the building was sold to the Assembly of God congregation in
Stanley, ND and the building was moved there. There are only three known burials in this
cemetery.
