L. COWPER was born in Ontario, Canada, about 44 years ago. When only a boy, he moved with his parents to Grand Forks where he grew up to manhood. He was a graduate of the University of North Dakota and specialized in Medicine at Hamline University. He practiced Medicine for about 20 years in Michigan. When the United States entered the war Lieutenant Cowper was one of the first to volunteer his services and was assigned to a transport ship that plied between this country and Liverpool, England. On one of these trips he contracted Pneumonia and died at Liverpool in March 1919. His remains rested at that place until exhumed and brought to Grand Forks where they were buried in August, 1920. Lieutenant Cowper is survived by his wife and one daughter who reside in St. Paul.
