He was born in Dyrland, Denmark, on February 1, 1891. Private Hanson was inducted into the service on March 24, 1918 and left for Camp Dodge, Iowa. From there he was transferred to Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, where he remained but a few days. He was later ordered to Camp Merritt, N. J. On June 1, 1918 he arrived overseas. Immediately upon his arrival he was taken sick with Rheumatic Fever and confined in a hospital for two months. About September 1st he went into action and fought in several battles, the names of which are not obtainable. On September 28, 1918 he met his death in the Argonne Forest. Private Hanson was a sturdy and loyal American citizen. He made his home with Ole Peterson of Petersburg.
