HOLICKY was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Math Holicky of Lakota. He was born on Jan. 6, 1896. Private Holicky enlisted on June 26, 1916 at East Grand Forks and left at once for Jefferson Barracks, Mo. On August 14, 1916 he became a member of Co. K of the 30th Infantry and was sent to Eagle Pass, Texas. After nine months of service there, he was transferred to Syracuse, N. Y., where he was made a Corporal in Co. K of the 38th Infantry. He was ordered overseas on April 1, 1918 and left with the 9th Machine Gun Bn., from Camp Greene, N. C. He went into action on May 5, 1918 and took part in the battles of Aisne, Marne and Chateau Thierry. He was killed on the firing line on July 15, 1918. Private Holicky was educated and grew up to manhood in Lakota.
