Dak. He entered the service at Lakota on June 1, 1918 and left with a contingent of Nelson County boys for Camp Dodge, Iowa. Later he was transferred to Camp Kearney, California and made a member of Co. G, 157th Infantry. After six weeks of training in this country he was ordered overseas and took his position at once on the firing line. Private Petterson took part in several of the major engagements and was killed in action only a few days before the Armistice was signed. He was employed by Theodore Quam of Forde Township at the time of his induction into the service.
