ROISLAND was the son of Julia and Halvor Roisland and was born on June 25, 1893. He responded to the call of his country on May 24, 1918, serving first at Camp Lewis, Washington, where he was assigned to Co. 7, 166th Depot Brigade. From there he was transferred to Camp Kearney, California and assigned to Co. H, 157th Infantry. On July 26, 1918 he sailed for France. On arriving in France, Private Roisland received further intensive training with his Regiment before going to the front. He was ordered to go into action in October, 1918, in the Argonne Forest and he had only been there a few days before he made the supreme sacrifice for Democracy. He was killed in action on October 8, 1918. Private Roisland was living with his mother near Kloten when he entered the service of his country.
