RUNDELL was the son of William C. and Mary Rundell of Lakota. He was born at Mapes on December 18, 1895. Private Rundell, responding to his country’s call entered the service on April 28, 1918 at Lakota. He received his preliminary training at Camp Dodge, Iowa. On May 20, 1918 he was transferred to Camp Travis, Texas, where he underwent intensive training until June 11th. Prom Camp Travis, Private Dundell was transferred to Camp Mills, N. Y. He was there only a few days, sailing for France on June 20, 1918. The first weeks in France were spent in further training. The last stage of the journey was reached on September 12, 1918. when Rundell went into the front line trenches. A few hours later he was killed in action while going over the top.
