He was born in Valdres, Norway, on June 6, 1893. His parents came to America when he was a mere boy and settled on a farm near McVille. Private Semeling entered the service May 24, 1918 and was sent to Camp Lewis, Washington. From there he was transferred to Camp Kearney, Calif., where he remained but a few days. On July 28, 1918 he was ordered to Camp Upton, N. Y. He arrived in France on August 23, 1918 and took his place on the fighting line September 23rd. Semeling took part in the Argonne Forest and Meuse River Offensive and met death bravely on October 13, 1918 near the Aire River. He was buried at Apremont Ardennes, France.
