It was before the turn of the century that the Lutheran church was established in the Brocket community. It was in 1889 that the first worship service was held in the home of Andrew Lillehoff. Rev. L. A. Haatvedt was installed as pastor. During the period from 1900 through 1903 land was given for the church, plans were made for construction and the church building was completed in 1904. Dedication services for the Hoff church were held on November 1, 1908. At the same time that the Hoff congregation was building its church south of Brocket, a small group of Lutheran families in Brocket were being served by Rev. J. J. Ringstad. A congregation was organized and named Vaage Lutheran congregation. The laying of the cornerstone of Vaage Lutheran church took place on June 30, 1 916. In 1926 Rev. Haatvedt who was serving the Hoff congregation was called to serve Vaage church as well. It was in 1947 that the Hoff and Vaage congregation voted to unite into one congregation to be located in Brocket. This merger was completed in October 1950 when the United Lutheran congregation officially came into existence. Rev. Raymond Brien who began serving the congregation in 1947 as a student accepted the call to become pastor of the United Congregation. The United Congregation at that time numbered 242 baptized members. During the period from the time of the formation of the United congregation, the dream of new or improved facilities was in the hearts and minds of many of the members. Land was given on which a new church could be built. It was in 1964 that the dream became a reality when a new church building was being constructed. On May 10, 1965 the new church was dedicated. The present pastor is Douglas Dobson.
