This new volume contains all of the marker inscriptions, and burials without markers taken from cemetery records for around 8000 burials. When searching, be aware that a few of the names are followed by an asterisk, such as Johnson*. This indicates that the marker did not contain the surname that was assumed from a nearby family stone. The name could not be confirmed by cemetery records or by obituary indexes. A few are followed by a question mark, ?, to indicate that we were dobutful of the surname chosen. This book was compiled during the period April to October, 2000. It covers all cemeteries associated with Jamestown having markers, EXCEPT Highland Home Cemetery. Highland Home Cemetery is covered in "Cemeteries of North Dakota, Stutsman County, Volume 16, Highland Home, Jamestown", 1992 The "Cemeteries of North Dakota" series was published by the Red River Valley Genealogical Society, Box 9284, Fargo, ND 58107-9284. They are still available for $15 each plus shipping. Historically, there have been nine cemeteries associated with Jamestown. Two of those, The Original Jamestown Cemetery, and The first Jamestown Catholic Cemetery, are no longer in existence, with burials being removed. This volume covers six of the seven remaining Jamestown cemeteries. Those covered are: The Jamestown Cemetery, and The McGinnis Addtion to that cemetery, both now often being referred to as the McGinnis Cemetery, the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, the Calvary Catholic Cemetery, and the two cemeteries located at the North Dakota State Hospital, called Cemetery 1 and Cemetery 2.
