This index contains all of the names that appear in the 280 page 8.5 x 11 
inch volume. This new volume contains all of the marker inscriptions, and 
burials without markers taken from cemetery records for something over 8000 
burials. When searching, be aware that a few of the names are followed by an 
asterisk, such as Johnson*. This indicates that the marker did not contain 
the surname that was assumed from a nearby family stone. The name could not 
be confirmed by cemetery records or by obituary indexes. A few are followed 
by a question mark, ?, to indicate that we were dobutful of the surname 
chosen.
This book was compiled during the period April to October, 1999. All of the 
cemeteries of Stutsman County are included in the listing, and in the 
locations and description section but NO stone readings are included for the 
seven cemeteries associated with Jamestown, ND. Those, that are NOT INCLUDED 
are Highland Home, The Jamestown Cemetery, McGinnis Cemetery, Calvary 
Cemetery, Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery and the two North Dakota State 
Hospital Cemeteries.

County, Volume 16, Highland Home, Jamestown", 1992
Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery is covered in "Cemeteries of North Dakota, 
Stutsman County, Volume 16, Supplement I", 1991
The other five cemeteries, not covered in "Rural and Village Cemeteries of 
Stutsman County, North Dakota, are covered in "Cemeteries of North Dakota, 
Stutsman County, Volume 16", 1977.
The "Cemeteries of North Dakota" series was published by the Red River Valley 
Genealogical Society, Box 9284, Fargo, ND 58107-9284. They are still 
available for $15 each plus shipping.
The book that is indexed here, "Rural and Village Cemeteries of Stutsman 
County, North Dakota" is published by the James River Genealogy Club, 651 4th 
St. N., Carrington, ND 58421, and is available for a $30 donation which 
includes shipping costs.
