Codes, '95 Teacher shall give written notice to County Superintendent of time and place of beginning school §746, Rev. Codes, '95 Teacher must hold a valid certificate or permit to teach, or he forfeits his wages. Every contract must be in writing. §695, 747, Rev. Codes, '95 Teacher may read Bible in school without sectarian comment, not to exceed ten minutes daily §754, Rev. Codes, '95 Teacher may suspend pupil from school for not more than five days on account of insubordination or habitual disobedience. Notice must be sent parent or guardian and some member of the board. §752, Rev. Codes, '95 Teacher's Certificate may be revoked for neglect to give instruction in hygiene and nature and effect of stimulants and narcotics; also, for incompetency, immorality, intemperance, cruelty, crime, refusal to perform duty, general neglect or business of school. §648, 744, 745, Rev. Codes, '95 No school shall be taught on the following legal holidays: January 1, February 12, February 22, May 30, July 4, general election day, Thanksgiving Day and December 25, nor on Saturday. §749, Rev. Codes, '95 School board shall furnish necessary furniture, maps, charts, apparatus including Webster's International Dictionary. It may furnish a library, value not to exceed $50. §694, Rev. Codes, '95 Text books and supplies may be furnished by board at district's expense, if so decided upon at an annual school election. §863, 864, Rev. Codes, '95 U.S. flag shall be displayed upon school house in seasonable weather. §865, Rev. Codes, '95, amended. Braches to be taught in all schools. Each teacher in the common schools shall teach pupils, when they are sufficiently advanced to pursue the same, the following branches: Orthography, reading, spelling, writing, arithmetic, language lessons, English grammar, geography, United States history, civil government, physiology and hygiene, giving special instruction concerning the nature of alcoholic drinks, stimulants and narcotics and their effect upon the human system; physiology and hygiene, giving special instruction concerning the nature of alcoholic drinks, stimulants and narcotics and their effect upon the human system shall be taught as thoroughly as any branch is taught, by the use of a text book to all pupils able to use a text book, who have not thoroughly studied that branch and orally to all other pupils. When such oral instruction is given as herein required, a sufficient time, not less than fifteen minutes, shall be given to such oral instruction for at least four days in each school week. Each teacher in special school districts and in cities organized for school purposes under special law shall conform to and be governed by the provisions of this section. §750, Rev.
