CAMPBELL, ROBERT.

He was born in 1804, in Ireland, and came to St. Louis in 1824. He was in
partnership with Wm. Sublette, in opposition to the American Fur Company,
1833-4. Maximilian met him at Ft. William, opposite the mouth of the Yellowstone
river, Oct. 30th, 1833. He died at St. Louis in 1879.
