Family research as of March 2012
Carl F. Anderson was born June 21, 1854 at Throndheim, Norway to Maria A. and 
Anders A. Anderson. Believe he emigrated to America sometime between 1870 & 1877
(various censuses give different years.) 

Carl married Bertha A. Syse on March 19, 1879 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church 
at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, IA. (Bertha Syse born May 17, 1957 Dane, Wisconsin 
to Iver Olsen Syse and Katrina Helvig Olsdatter Oppheim, died September 24, 
1938 Grafton, Walsh, ND). 

The couple had a son, Albert Johannes Anderson (born September 2, 1879 at 
Mitchell Co, IA, died August 1969 Grafton, ND) at Mitchell County, Iowa. Carl 
and Brita and son moved north to Grafton, North Dakota before September 1881 to 
homestead farmland. 

Nine more children were born at Grafton, Walsh, North Dakota: 
Oscar Martinus (born September 28, 1881, married Tina Julia Braaten August 5, 
1906 McHenry, ND, died May 27, 1956 Upham, McHenry, North Dakota); 

Martin K. (born December 19, 1883 Grafton, ND);

Emil (born September 30, 1885, died 1888 at Grafton, ND); 

Maria (born October 14, 1889, died July 23, 1952 Grafton, ND); 

Ida Caroline (born November 14, 1891, married Edgar Waldemer Lantz abt 1910 ND, 
died March 1981 Grafton, ND); 

Clara B (born May 3, 1894, married John Hopkins, died August 28, 1971 Los 
Angeles, California); 

Emma Josephine (born May 3, 1894, married Elmer Ness November 12, 1920 ND, died 
February 1977 Grafton, ND); 

Lydia (born December 10, 1896, married James Carl Hannah September 28, 1918 
Grafton, ND, died June 20, 1984 Everett, Snohomish, Washington) and 

Evelyn O.(born October 28, 1900, married Edwin Bjorge abt 1920 ND, died January 
1980 Lakota, Nelson, ND). 

Family found in the 1900, 1910, 1920, 1925 & 1930 censuses living at Grafton, 
Walsh, North Dakota:
1900: Carl Anderson 47, Brita Anderson 45, Albert J Anderson 20, Oscar M 
Anderson 18, Martin K Anderson 16, Maria Anderson 10, Ida K Anderson 8, Clara B 
Anderson 6, Emma J Anderson 4, Ly Da A Anderson 3. 

1910: Jarl F Anderson 56, Brida Anderson 54, Martin Anderson 23, Maria Anderson 
21, Ida Anderson 18, Clara Anderson 15, Emma Anderson 15, Lydia Anderson 13, 
Evelym Anderson 9, Arne Anderson 24. 

1920: Carl 66 1/2, Bertha 64.

1925: Carl age 72.

1930: Charles 77, Bertha A 74, Martin 40. Says emigrated 1873.

Carl Anderson died March 16, 1943 at Grafton, Walsh, North Dakota and is bured 
there.
