He was baptized on June 14, 1874 at Naes, Akershus, Norway. Christian's birth and baptism record can be found in the Norwegian Digital records on line for Akershus, Nes in Nes 1859-1874, pg 454, entry # 42. Chris' mother died from complications of childbirth on the day he was born. Believe he was raised by his father Hans Anderson's parents who were Anders Olsen Finholdt Skaarevarkit and Karen Andrea Fredrikke Olsdatter and sometimes known as Mr and Mrs Anders Olsen Wong (Vang, Wang or Wangness). In 1885, Anders Wong's son-in-law sent for Christ to come to the U.S. Chris emigrated to Iowa, traveling on the Tingvala Line Ship "Martha" - a large steam and sailing ship and lived a short while with his father Hans Anderson and Hans' second wife Gina. In 1900, at Concord, Hancock County, Iowa, he was naturalized. Found in the 1900 census at Linden, Winnebago, Iowa living with his Dad's sister (his aunt) Mary Hagan and her husband, Alfred Hagan and working as their hired man. Alfred Hagen 28, Mary Hagen 21, Beulah M Hagen 2, Eva Pauline Hagen 9/12, Christ Hanson 23. Chris moved to North Dakota to homestead in 1901. He married Johanna Mahlum on June 8, 1906 at Baden, Ward, North Dakota. The couple had 5 children: Joseph (born December 25, 1907, died October 28, 1912 both at Baden, Ward, North Dakota); Arthur Hanson (born November 6, 1909 Baden, ND, died April 29, 1972 Stanley, Mountrail, NDakota); Myrtle (born October 23, 1911 Baden, ND, married Christian Larson, died December 21, 1989 Kenmare, Ward, N Dakota); Oren Kenneth (born September 5, 1914 Baden, ND, died April 3, 2004 Stanley, Mountrail, N Dakota) and Donald Hansen (born 1916, died 1916 both at Baden, N Dakota). Found in the 1910 census living at Baden, Ward, North Dakota: Chris Hanson 56, [36], Johanna Mahlum Hanson 34, Joseph Hanson 2, Arthur Hanson 0,[5/12], Adolph Anderson 17, Alfred Christensen 31. Found in the 1920 census at Crowfoot, Mountrail, North Dakota: Chris Hanson 45, Johanna Hanson 43, Arthur Hanson 10, Myrtle Hanson 8, Orren K Hanson 5. Found in the 1930 census at Spencer, Ward, North Dakota: Chris Hanson 56, Johanna Hanson 53, Arthur Hanson 20, Myrtle Hanson 18, Oren K Hanson 15. Found in the 1940 census at Baden, Ward, North Dakota: Chris Hanson 66, Johanna Hanson 63, Arthur Hanson 30, Oren K Hanson 25. Finished 8th grade. Ole Christian Hanson was a farmer. He died January 19, 1960 at Kenmare, Ward, North Dakota and is buried at the Coulee Cemetery, Coulee, Mountrail, North Dakota. Find a Grave Memorial #6410816.
