A Degree for Sheldon

Hastings Tribune: For the first time in it's history, 
Hastings college this morning had a governor among its
candidates for degrees. In recognition of his well directed
efforts as citizen and statesman, Governor Sheldon was
invested with the degree of doctor of laws -- the highest
academic honor that can be conferred by the institution.
Governor Hoch was to have been similarly honored but the
ceremony was necessarily deferred because of his inability
to reach Hastings at the appointed time.
