Loran Clark, of Albion, Boone county, is another of the irrepressible Yankee elements, that has struggled and worked their way to positions of honor and eminence among their fellow citizens. He was born in Berkshire, Vermont, but raised in Wisconin, from whence he wandered away to the mining regions of Colorado and Nevada, and for thirteen years was engaged in the business of mining, stock raising &c. Mr. Clark is forty four years of age, five feet eleven inches high, weighs about one hundred and fifty, and at present, true to his speculative instincts, is engaged in the double business of farming and general merchandise. He is, and has been from it's earliest organization, a member of the Republican party and a firm adherent to Republican principles, has faith in God and Gen. Grant, and believes that the only safety for this land is in the full establishment of the doctrine of equal rights and privileges for all classes and colors and sex, all States and races within the limits of this great Republic. He is a good illustration of a wide awake, progressive Republican, has figured but little in politics as such, but is well posted on all the great issues of the day, a safe counselor and a good legislator. His county should be well satisfied.
